COMPLETED PROJECTS

Street Sign Toppers

We have launched a neighborhood-wide beautification program to install custom street sign toppers throughout our boundaries. These identifiers serve as a visual landmark of our community’s unique identity, signaling to every visitor and resident that they have entered the historic North Heights.

Neighborhood Park Lighting

To enhance safety and extend the hours of recreation for our families, we successfully installed new lighting at Mary Hazelrigg Park, Hines Memorial Park, and Bones Hooks Park. These bright additions ensure our green spaces remain welcoming hubs for the community long after the sun goes down.

18th Street Sidewalk Project

This $430,000 collaborative initiative with the City of Amarillo added approximately 5,000 square feet of new and reconstructed sidewalks between Hughes and Bonham streets. Funded through federal grants and local contributions, this project creates a safer, more accessible pathway for pedestrians and connects our neighbors like never before.

Bones Hooks Park Historical Designation

In a historic Juneteenth 2024 ceremony, we dedicated an official Texas Historical Commission marker at Bones Hooks Park to honor the legacy of Mathew "Bones" Hooks. This designation recognizes the pioneering Black cowboy and civic leader whose vision for community improvement and children’s welfare remains the foundation of North Heights today.

The Commons at St. Anthony’s (East)

We championed the redevelopment of the long-vacant St. Anthony’s Hospital, transforming a historic landmark into "The Commons at St. Anthony’s." This project revitalizes the East building into over 120 affordable senior living units, complete with fitness areas and community spaces that allow our elders to age with dignity in their own neighborhood.

Bus Stop Shelters

We are currently working to secure four modern bus stop shelters equipped with solar-powered lights and comfortable benches. This project is a key part of our transportation pillar, ensuring that those who rely on public transit have a safe, well-lit, and dignified place to wait for their ride.
