Driven by Residents, Backed by Plan

A PLAN CRAFTED BY YOUR VOICE

Through our partnership with the City of Amarillo, we have moved North Heights from the margins of urban strategy to the very heart of the municipal master plan. This collaboration represents the powerful intersection of grassroots advocacy and long-range vision, where the lived experiences of our neighbors have become the official blueprint for our future growth.

We invite you to explore how this neighborhood-led strategy integrates with the broader City of Amarillo comprehensive plan to create a stronger, more connected community. By viewing the full neighborhood plan below, you can see exactly how our collective voices are being translated into the streets, shops, and homes of tomorrow.

THE PLAN FOR THE HEIGHTS

Born from a 2016 interlocal agreement between the City of Amarillo and Potter County, the Neighborhood Planning Initiative empowers residents to transform local concerns and goals into official amendments of the Amarillo Comprehensive Plan. As the City’s officially recognized partner for this initiative, the North Heights Advisory Association oversees the implementation of these project priorities to ensure our community’s vision is realized. THE PLAN FOR AMARILLO

The City of Amarillo’s long-range plans provide a strategic vision for our collective growth, ensuring that every development contributes to a more prosperous and sustainable future. These initiatives address critical pillars like transportation, housing, public art, and safety, creating a high-quality environment where community-driven progress is the standard. By aligning our neighborhood goals with this broader municipal framework, we ensure that North Heights is a key driver in the city’s sustainable development.

This integration ensures that our local priorities are backed by the full strength of the city's long-term planning and investment strategy. We invite you to explore the Amarillo Comprehensive Plan to see how these city-wide initiatives provide the foundation for the specific, street-level improvements we are achieving together.
